NiteSafe Duo+ Plug-In Night Light & Emergency Torch
The Duo+ offers two operating modes: Motion Sensor and Dusk Till Dawn with Motion Sensor. It combines an automatic night light, motion-activated lighting, emergency power failure lighting, and a portable handheld torch in one compact unit.
How To Use
- Plug In & Charge: Keep the torch seated inside the induction charging cradle with the wall socket switched on. Charge for 24 hours before first use.
- Motion Sensor Mode: When initially plugged in, the Duo+ starts in Motion Sensor mode. In darkness, the front LEDs automatically turn on when motion is detected. They remain on for approximately 20 seconds before turning off.
- Dusk Till Dawn + Motion Sensor Mode: Press the button on the back of the torch while it is inside the cradle to switch modes. The front LEDs will remain on at a soft, low brightness during darkness and will switch off when the surrounding area becomes light again.
- Motion Boost: In Dusk Till Dawn + Motion Sensor mode, the front LEDs increase in brightness when motion is detected, then return to the low, constant night light.
- Power Failure Mode: If there is a power cut or the wall socket is switched off, the top LED automatically activates, providing a direct source of light during a power outage. Once activated, the torch uses its internal battery and can provide up to 10 hours of light.
- Handheld Torch: Remove the torch from the cradle at any time. The top LEDs will automatically illuminate. Press the button on the back to activate the front LEDs, press again for SOS flashing mode, and press again to turn the torch off.

Ideal for homes, hallways, bedrooms, hotels, guest accommodation, holiday lets, rental properties, and Airbnbs where automatic night lighting, motion detection, and emergency blackout lighting are required.
Night Light & Sensor Operation
The night light operates based purely on ambient light levels. The Duo+ detects when surrounding light is lower than natural daylight and activates accordingly. This may happen because of darkness, shadows, objects partially covering the unit, or the time of day, depending on where the torch is installed.
The torch does not use time-based or “smart” technology to determine whether it is day or night. It responds only to the level of surrounding light and will activate when dusk-type lighting conditions are detected.
There is no manual control or override for this feature. To prevent the night light from activating during the day, the torch should be installed in a location that receives consistent, uninterrupted daylight.
Please Note
- The torch should remain inside the plug-in charging cradle for the majority of the time unless being used as a handheld torch.
- The torch must be returned to the cradle to recharge.
- Power cut detection only works when the torch has sufficient charge, is correctly seated in the cradle, and the wall socket is switched on.
- The night light and/or motion sensor features cannot be turned off with this model.
- If you require a power-failure-only light, we recommend the Xtralite NiteSafe Maxi, which can be switched to “Off” while retaining power failure activation.

- What Modes Does The Duo+ Have?
- The Duo+ has two modes. Motion Sensor mode activates the front LEDs in darkness when motion is detected. Dusk Till Dawn + Motion Sensor mode keeps the front LEDs on at a low level during darkness and increases the brightness when motion is detected.
- How Do I Change The Mode?
- When the torch is inside the charging cradle, press the button on the back of the unit to switch from Motion Sensor mode to Dusk Till Dawn + Motion Sensor mode.
- How Long Does The Motion Sensor Light Stay On?
- The front LEDs remain illuminated for approximately 20 seconds after motion is detected, with a sensor delay time of 20 ± 5 seconds.
- How Does The Dusk Till Dawn Mode Work?
- In this mode, the front LEDs automatically remain on at a soft, low brightness whenever the surrounding light level is low. When motion is detected, the LEDs increase in brightness and then return to the low constant night light.
- How Does The Power Cut Light Work?
- When the torch is correctly seated in its charging cradle and has sufficient charge, the top LED will automatically activate if mains power is no longer detected, such as during a power cut or when the wall socket is switched off.
- How Long Will The Light Last During A Power Cut?
- The Duo+ can provide up to 10 hours of light during power failure or when being used as a handheld torch, depending on the charge level and conditions.
- Can I Use The Duo+ As A Handheld Torch?
- Yes. Remove the torch from the charging cradle and the top LEDs will automatically turn on. Press the button on the back to activate the front LEDs, press again for SOS flashing mode, and press again to turn the torch off.
- Does The Night Light Use A Timer?
- No. The Duo+ does not use time-based or smart technology. The night light responds purely to ambient light levels.
- Why Does The Night Light Sometimes Come On During The Day?
- The sensor responds to the surrounding light level rather than the time of day. Shadows, objects partially covering the torch, or darker areas can cause the unit to interpret the surroundings as dusk-type conditions.
- Can The Night Light Or Motion Sensor Be Turned Off?
- No. The night light and/or motion sensor features cannot be manually turned off on the Duo+. If you require a power-failure-only light, we recommend the Xtralite NiteSafe Maxi.
- Does The Torch Need To Stay In The Charging Cradle?
- Yes. The Duo+ is intended to remain in the plug-in charging cradle for the majority of the time. It must be returned to the cradle to recharge, and power failure detection only operates when it is correctly seated with the socket switched on.
