-
NiteSafe Duo Plug-In Night Light & Emergency Torch
The Duo is our entry-level model that offers simple-to-use functionality suitable for many situations. It provides either Motion Sensor or Dusk Till Dawn operation, together with automatic power failure lighting and handheld torch functionality.
How To Use
- Plug In & Charge: Keep the torch seated inside the plug-in charging cradle with the wall socket switched on.
- Motion Sensor Mode: Push the side switch all the way down. In this mode, the front LEDs automatically turn on when motion is detected in low or dark light. The light remains on for around 20 seconds before turning off until motion is detected again.
- Dusk Till Dawn Mode: Push the side switch all the way up. The front LEDs automatically turn on and remain illuminated during dusk, darkness, or low-light conditions.
- Off Position: Push the side switch to the middle to turn off the unit, including the light functions and power failure mode.
- Power Failure Mode: The top LEDs automatically turn on when power is no longer detected or the wall socket is switched off. In power failure mode, the torch charge lasts approximately 2 hours.
- Handheld Torch: Remove the torch from the cradle at any time to use it as a handheld torch. The top LEDs will remain on until the torch runs out of charge.
Where To Use
Ideal for homes, hallways, bedrooms, hotels, guest accommodation, holiday lets, rental properties, and Airbnbs requiring automatic night lighting, motion detection, and emergency blackout lighting.
Night Light & Sensor Operation
The night light feature activates whenever the torch detects that ambient light levels are lower than natural daylight. This can be caused by shadows, objects partially covering the unit, or the time of day, depending on where the torch is plugged in.
The torch does not use time-based or “smart” technology to determine day or night. Instead, it responds purely to light levels and switches on when dusk-type lighting conditions are detected.
There is no way to manually control or override this feature. To prevent the night light from activating during the day, ensure the torch is plugged into a location with consistent daylight.
Please Note
- The product is intended to remain in the plug-in cradle for the majority of the time.
- Power cut detection only works when the torch has charge and is correctly seated in the cradle with the socket switched on.
- The night light and/or motion sensor features cannot be turned off with this model.
- If you are looking for a power failure only light, we recommend our Xtralite NiteSafe Maxi model, which can be switched off on the unit itself but will still light up during a power cut.

- How Does The Power Cut Light Work?
- The top LEDs automatically activate when power is no longer detected or the wall socket is switched off. The torch can provide approximately 2 hours of light using its internal charge.
- Can I Use The Duo As A Handheld Torch?
- Yes. Remove the torch from the charging cradle at any time. The top LEDs will automatically remain illuminated until the torch runs out of charge.
- How Long Does The Motion Sensor Light Stay On?

- Does The Torch Need To Stay In The Charging Cradle?
- Yes. The Duo is intended to remain in the plug-in cradle for the majority of the time. Power cut detection only works when the torch has charge, is correctly seated in the cradle, and the wall socket is switched on.
